I checked this one out last year around Christmas and it has been a popular book from the day it came out because when I didn’t finish it and had to return it to the library it was another almost two months before I had a chance to actually read it.
Ricky Martin’s memoir is a great story of identity struggle, searching for meaning and growing up in the spotlight. It was very interesting to read this candid tale and see a very different picture of the singer than I’ve ever seen or heard.
Starting from childhood, joining Menudo, General Hospital, then becoming famous with “The Cup of Life” and “Livin’ La Vida Loca”, Martin describes in personal detail the struggles he faced in keeping his secret and trying to fit in where he thought he was supposed to, instead of being the person he really was.
It was a very interesting read into the life of one human making tough decisions day by day and finding their purpose and goals.
