Secret Dreamworld is hosting this challenge, which so far has been my favorite, about books crossing over with movies and TV.
It’s hard to think up actors/actresses to play characters but I came up with lists of 5 for each of the questions. I’m taking on series because those tend to translate better and I read more of them than anything else.
Book Series That Could be Adapted:
- Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich
- Georgia Nicholson series by Louise Rennison
- Alex Cross series by James Patterson
- Alphabet series by Sue Grafton
- In Death series by J.D. Robb
These are all series I have read or started reading and I think they would all be awesome. Georgia Nicholson could be for ABC family or the CW, some of the others for public or cable television but they all have great storylines and in depth characters.
Movies/TV Series Adapted to Book
- Castle
- Grey’s Anatomy
- Samantha Who
- Lost
- Weeds
These are all shows I watch and most have enough conflict and resolution to become continuous in books. Samantha Who would be awesome because it’s so comedic and probably easy to translate. Lost would be more difficult but every interesting reading the books trying to find all the clues along the way.
Already Apapted
- Women’s Murder Club by James Patterson
- True Blood by Charlaine Harris
- Dexter
- Georgia Nicholson by Louise Rennison
- Alex Cross by James Patterson
So, some have been mentioned before and almost all I have watched. I loved the Women’s Murder Club and was sad when it was canceled. It had so much potential. True Blood is awesome! Dexter is the one I’ve watched the show but have not yet started the books but I’ve heard they are great. Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging was adapted to film but hasn’t been released in the US yet and it not available on DVD so I’m still waiting to see it. The Alex Cross series had two movies made but that was all. I think it would be much better as a series but still the movies were good.
